Celebrating Earth Day
This Earth Day, we reaffirm our dedication to protecting biodiversity and minimising our environmental impact. By integrating sustainability into every aspect of our operations, we aim to create a positive ripple effect for ecosystems worldwide.
As proud members of the Mineral Products Association (MPA), we align with industry-leading practices for biodiversity enhancement and sustainable development.
Biodiversity
We are committed to integrating biodiversity considerations into our operations and sustainability initiatives, by using responsibly sourced materials and energy-efficient production techniques. This reduces our environmental impact which indirectly supports biodiversity by reducing pollution, carbon and conserving resourcing.
We use efficient production methods that conserve water during manufacturing. Controlled mixing environments reduce water usage compared to traditional methods. This supports broader environmental goals that benefit aquatic ecosystems.
Our commitment is underscored by our membership of the Mineral Products Association (MPA) and their pledge to best practices in biodiversity enhancement.
Waste and Circular Economy
We adopt a comprehensive strategy to optimise resource use, minimise waste and embrace circular economy principles.
Using modern methods of manufacturing we product products to exact specifications, reducing the need for on-site modifications and minimising material waste and the need for extra bedding materials during installation.
Our controlled factory environment ensures efficient use of raw materials, including optimised product sizing and reinforcement placement. We operate a Zero Waste policy which aims to divert 100% of process waste from landfill and any waste generated during manufacturing is recycled or reused within the factory.
Our concrete products are design for long lifespans – often exceeding 100 years, reducing the need for replacements and supporting circularity through extended use and the inherent strength and adaptability of precast concrete allows for components to be repurposed or reused in new projects. This aligns with broader industry efforts to retain material value throughout the lifecycle.
Carbon
We are dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint through sustainable practices, innovative manufacturing processes and adherence to industry standards.
We look to minimising embodied carbon in our products while supporting the broader goals of a low-carbon built environment.
All of our products are manufactured in Shropshire, using locally sourced materials. This reduces transport-related emissions, such as fuel consumption and mileage, contributing to a lower overall carbon footprint.
We support a local supply chain by prioritising local suppliers and foster shorter supply routes, ensuring reduced emissions while supporting the UK economy.
We optimise production techniques to minimise material wate and energy use during production. This approach reduces the embodied carbon on products, while maintaining structural integrity.
Our whole-life approach to carbon reduction by considering emissions across the lifecycle of products – from raw materials sourcing to manufacturing, transportation and installation. This comprehensive strategy ensures that all aspects of production and use are optimised for sustainability.
As a member of the Mineral Products Association (MPA), we adhere to industry best practices for sustainability and carbon reduction.
Social Value
With various initiatives aimed at supporting local communities, we actively support local charities, food banks and sporting clubs by donating products and raising funds for community projects.
Over 93% of our workforce is locally employed and we offer apprenticeships and work experience opportunities to nurture local talent, alongside competitions with local universities.
100% of our products are made in Shropshire and we believe in paying our suppliers on time to ensure a clean supply chain, where everyone is happy. We pay our taxes and look to support our local communities in employment and belong to the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Mineral Products Association.
