Elite Precast Concrete wastes no time with recycling facility project

Elite Precast Concrete has been called upon by a local authority for the second time, after its products proved a tried and tested solution for its recycling facility expansion.ย Oadby and Wigston Council in Leicestershire has called upon their services, after expanding its Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) following a ยฃ1.6 million grant from the Government Waste Support Scheme.

The council has used 170 of Elite Precast Concreteโ€™s V interlocking blocks, which link together along the base, sides, and top to form a particularly stable structure, to create two additional storage bays measuring 3 metres wide by 16 metres deep each used to segregate recycling before it is processed. In 2011, the council used 250 blocks from Elite Precast Concrete to replace its previous storage bays, which were not large enough, or durable enough to withstand the harsh environment.

Owen Batham, Sales and Marketing Director of Elite, said: โ€œWe were delighted with the initial response from Oadby Council about our blocks, so it really is an acclamation that the authority decided to use our products and services again for the MRF expansion.ย  As the blocks simply slot together with the use of a forklift, the whole installation took just four days to complete, and eliminated the need to bring in external contractors.โ€

Karen Parkes, Recycling Co-ordinator at Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, commented: โ€œThis is by far the most cost-effective solution currently available. We have a responsibility to competitively tender each and every capital investment we make, and have found Elite Precast Concrete deliver by far the lowest price, the best products and the best service.
